24MX celebrate women’s success in 2024 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship

  • News

24MX successfully championed the achievements of women in hard enduro through the Women’s Hard Enduro Performance Award supported by 24MX during the 2024 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.

In total, six Women’s Hard Enduro Performance Award supported by 24MX trophies were won throughout the season. Sandra Gomez claimed the majority with three, while Tjaša Fifer, Rachel Gutish and Kirsten Landman were also winners.

A leader and role model to many in hard enduro, Sandra Gomez (GASGAS) won the Women’s Hard Enduro Performance Award supported by 24MX at this year’s Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs and finally, on home soil in Spain, at the 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro.

“To win this award again is super nice,” told Sandra. “Unfortunately, I was the only woman competing at 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro, but hopefully by being here, I can show women that we can do it and that it’s fun to be on the track. The race itself was super difficult, but the atmosphere from the crowd and the people cheering me on was worth it.

“My next race will be in January for the Dakar Rally, I will keep pushing to be ready for that. Many thanks again for all the support, and for this award. It means a lot. For 2025, I hope we can see more women out here racing and enjoying it.”

Slovenia’s Tjaša Fifer (GASGAS) was the best-placed female rider at Serbia’s Xross Hard Enduro Rally in June. A dominant performance saw her race to victory in the Hobby class.

“I won this award last year, so to win it again at Xross Hard Enduro Rally is amazing,” told Tjaša. “I hope my results show what us women riders can achieve in hard enduro and that more women come to race. It’s an awesome sport and I love it!”

For round five, the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship travelled to the United States for the Red Bull Tennessee Knockout. Winning the Women’s Pro class on Saturday, before finishing 52nd overall in Sunday’s race, Rachel Gutish (Sherco) was duly awarded the Women’s Hard Enduro Performance Award supported by 24MX trophy. It also marked her eighth time competing in the USA’s most prestigious hard enduro.

“For the Women’s Pro class we raced the TKO #2 loop on Saturday, which also saw me qualify through to Sunday’s racing from that,” told Rachel. “Although our category was finished on Saturday, I decided to keep going and see how far I could get on Sunday.

“To finish 52nd overall is a result I’m very proud of. This was actually my eighth Red Bull TKO, and it’s one of my favourite events every year.”

As the fourth recipient of the award, South Africa’s Kirsten Landman (KTM) secured a silver medal and 70th overall at round six at Sea To Sky in Turkey. She hopes others will follow in her wheel tracks too.

“When women see someone finishing Sea To Sky and getting an award, they realise that girls can do this too and that sparks hope for some girls around the world,” said Landman. “That’s how my dream started. I saw my cousin riding and thought, ‘I can do this.’

“I’ve got a lot of girls in South Africa who message me saying they want to win this award one day, so let’s keep it going. It’s inspiring kids, and it’s great.”

Proudly supporting women in hard enduro, Kirsten’s statement is a sentiment echoed by 24MX themselves, says Davide Rinaldi.

“At 24MX, we are proud to support the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship and the Women’s Hard Enduro Performance Award. Riders like Sandra, Tjaša, Rachel and Kirsten are incredible ambassadors, paving the way for others. Their talent and determination inspire both the current and next generations of enduro and hard enduro riders.

“By highlighting their successes, we aim to encourage more women to get involved and chase their dreams in hard enduro. I am excited to see what the coming seasons hold and which riders will rise to the challenge!”
